Although the mentoring program will formally end at the end of the structured accelerator program, it is the mutual decision of the mentor and the mentee to identify when the relationship reaches a natural end.

They may decide to end the relationship for a number of reasons:

The pilot programmes did not incorporate any official post-mentorship transition phase. Following feedback interviews, this was an area that both mentees and mentors required further guidance and a number of best practices and templates have been included accordingly.

The Final Session

In case the mentor and mentee decide to conclude their association, the final session should primarily be utilised to return back to the objectives set at the beginning of the program to reflect on the experiences.

Personal reflection and review of the relationship is important and should help to guide both mentor and mentee’s next steps, as they may like to discuss a plan going forward. This should both parties to review what progress has been made and to acknowledge what has been missed out.

It could be useful for both to still retain each others' contact details for any further potential associations. Moreover, the mentor may also encourage the mentee to find another mentor for the next stages of their entrepreneurial journey, and may even suggest potential contacts.

Programme coordinators may also ask both the mentors and the mentees to fill out post-programme evaluation surveys, that can provide detailed feedback to the coordinators about how they can improve the programme.
